Abbreviations
CH = chain
DC = double crochet ( Insert hook, yarn over and pull through, yarn over and pull through two)
TR = triple crochet (yarn over hook, insert hook,yarn over hook and pull through, there should be three stitches on your hook, yarn over and pull through two stitches, yarn over and pull through two stitches)
SL = slip stitch
You can use any yarn or size crochet hook. I used DK yarn and a size 4.0mm crochet hook
These instructions are given in UK terminology.
Start by making four granny squares
To make a granny square
Make a loop. Place the loop in your crochet hook and chain 4, join with a SL to the first chain to make a ring.
1st round.
CH 3, TR twice into centre of 4 chains, CH 2, TR 3 into the same space, CH 2, TR 3 into the same space, CH 2, TR 3 into the same space, CH 2, SL into top of the first 3 CH. This should make four corners. Change colour yarn if you wish.
2nd round.
SL into top of next 2 TRs, SL into 2 chain space, 3 CH, 2 TRs into same 2 chain space, 2 CH, 3 TRs into same 3 chain space, *(1 CH, 3 TRs into next 2 chain space, 2 CH, 3 TRs into same 2 chain space) repeat from * twice more, 1 CH,SL into top of first 3 Chains. Change colour if you wish.
3rd round. SL into the top of the next 2TRs , SL into 2 chain space, 3 chains, 2 TRs into same 2 chain space, 2 CH, 3 TRs into same 2 chain space, *(1 chain, 3 TRs into next 1 chain space,1 CH, 3 TRs into next 2 chain space, 2 CH, 3 TRs into same 2 chain space) repeat from * 3 times, 1 CH, 3 TRs into the next 1 chain space, 1 CH, SL into the top of the first 3 chains. Continue the last round as many times as you like. Please note you will increase one three treble group each round.
I Joined the four Squares using the crochet method or sew them together.
Change colour yarn if you wish. When the four squares are joined, join yarn into any corner and CH 1, DC into the same corner, 2 CH, 2 DCs into the same corner, DC into next and every top of DCs until the next corner, *( 2 DCs into corner, 2CH, 2 DCs into the same corner) 3 times, then DC to the first corner, join with a SL to the first DC . This completes one round. Change colour yarn if you wish. Do one more round in DCs.
Then carry on in TRs the same way until your cushion measures the size you want.
Make the back in the same way or just make a big enough granny square to fit.
Join the front and back on 3 sides, fit your cushion pad inside and join up the remaining side.
I hope you found this pattern helpful.
